This Week On My Family History Calendar

May 31-June 6

May 31~
Margaret Frances "Fannie" (Gibson) Thames (1854-1929) my paternal Great Great Grandmother was born 161 years ago. Her birth place was most likely in the part of  Sumter District, South Carolina that became Clarendon County in 1855.
Paxville was the home of the family for some time.
Fannie was the daughter of Benjamin Reese Gibson (1824-1907) and Margaret Cantey (Walker) Thames (1830-1900).

June 4~
William A. McManus (1854-1914), my maternal Great Great Grandfather would be celebrating his 161st birthday on this day. Records indicate that he was born in South Carolina, but the exact place has yet to be determined. William's parents are unknown at this time as well.

Are we kin? Please contact me. Together we can find our people.
Thanks so much for stopping by.

  1. Do you use that sight I see advertised - I think ancestry.com?

    1. Yes, I do use ancestry.com. It's a great place to find records on your family and to connect with others who are searching the same family lines. A caution though. Take other people's tree as a hint of who your family is. There is a lot of incorrect information on ancestry and other other online family tree sites. You can use ancestry and other sites for free at the Florence Family History Center. There are volunteers that will help you get started with your genealogy too. https://familysearch.org/learn/wiki/en/Florence_South_Carolina_Family_History_Center. This link will take you to an information page for it. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with! I love to help people get started looking finding their people!
