GenFriends Genealogy Chat Show: "Oklahoma Freedmen of the Five Tribes" with Angela Walton -Raji

Angela Walton-Raji joins Melissa Barker, Laura Hedgecock, Shelley Murphy, Mary Kircher Roddy, and me to tell us about her new book "Oklahoma Freedmen of the Five Tribes.

Over decades of studying the records, history, and social context of these people, Angela has gathered stories of those who, through genealogical research, discover that they are descendants of the Freedmen of the Five Tribes or from those whose family stories of being descendants of the Freedmen of the Five Tribes. has been passed down through the generations.


Watch as we learn how this book came together and how important it is for stories to be told and people and history remembered. 






 Thank you to Anglea for her work in researching the lives of these people and getting their long-lost stories told. Our ancestors want to be remembered. Some have a special gift to answer the call. One of these is Angela Walton-Raji.
