This Week On My Family History Calendar

June 28~
Alpheus J. Baker, my paternal 3rd great grandfather was born 197 years ago in Sumter County, South Carolina. His father was Jesse Hinton Baker (1795-1866). The name of his mother was thought to be Nancy Wilder but that research has been disputed and more needs to be done to determine the correct mother.

My great grandparents, William Treadford Roberts and Beulah Mae (Price) Roberts would be celebrating their 107th anniversary on this day. Wiliam was 20 and Bessie Mae 17 when, as family lore says, they snuck away from their homes in Richland County, South Carolina, and eloped.

Celebration Sunday~Genealogy Happy Dance!

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.

Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:
Spending the week in the Hands-on Forensic Genealogy with course coordinator Catherine Weist Desmarais, CG was so much fun!  We were able to work in small groups to practice and build skills needed to work on Forensic cases.
Learning from Catherine and the other instructors, Linda Hunter, Kelvin Meyers, and Michael Ramage, JD, CG had me dancing all week!
Thanks to the Genealogy Institute of Pittsburg for offering this course.
Hurray for virtual educational opportunities!

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:

Grandkids! My happy moment dance moment for the week was having almost all of my 21 grandchildren together this week. Every two years we get together for a family reunion consisting of our children and grandchildren.  This year was even more special because we started the week with one of our sons being married in the Columbia, SC Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Temple.
We were able to capture this special photo of our 21. One, Sophie had to stay home due to a nursing program she is attending but she joined us via FaceTime. The other, our angel baby Camden who passed away shortly after birth, is represented in the photo by a butterfly.
We had a wonderful week full of food, swimming, bowling, miniature golf and just spending time together. I can't believe it's over but we already planning for 2023!
