GenFriends: Relative Race Season 12, Day 2: The Smiles and the Tears.

GenFriends Melissa Barker, Jenny Hawran, Shelley Murphy, and I join together as the race rolls on to Day 2.

We were surprised to learn that Andy had already "met" his cousin Erin and then saddened when she told him he wouldn't be meeting his maternal family on the show. We loved the information and photos shared with Pat as he met his uncle.

Tranisha, meeting her relative, who was a WWII Soldier, melted hearts.

And as for the heartbreaking information about Geselle's father? There are no words.

Watch as we discuss the ups and downs of this week's episode.

We'd love to hear your thoughts about Day 2!

How did you like the challenge? Is it Family Reunion Book worthy?

What do you think the benefit of "a leg up" will be?

Loving these teams already!

Relative Race Season 12, Day 1! New Teams, New Twists!

The panel  Melissa Barker, Laura Hedgecock, Jenny Hawran, Mary Kircher Roddy, and I get together for their coverage of the new season of Relative Race.

Watch as we talk about the new teams and the new twists in the game.

We loved the teams getting to know each other before the official race began. We had mixed thoughts about the Choose Your Benefits twist.

What did you think about Day 1 of Season 12?

We'd love to hear from you!

Behind the Scenes at Relative Race with Story Producer Corey Cuff

The panel Melissa Barker, Jenny Hawran, Laura Hedgecock, Mary Kircher Roddy, and I welcome Relative Race Story Producer Corey Cluff for some behind-the-scenes details about how the show comes together. Although he couldn't share too many secrets, we do get an update on Dan and his experience being the producer for Season 11's Team Red.

Watch as we learn who chooses the producer for each of the four teams, how the teams are contacted and told they are on the show, and get a hint of what chances are in store for Season 12.

Are you ready for a new season of Relative Race!

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:

SLIG Fall Virtual has begun, and once again, I am taking  Advanced Evidence Analysis Practicum. This is a 6-week course helping to build genealogy skills.

Each week, we get a case with a genealogy question to answer and some beginning documents to get us started. The goal is to learn as we dive into the cases that often test our knowledge of documents, locations, and methodologies.

Beginning this course is my happy dance moment for the week. Why?

It's a lot of work, but putting the time into it will bring great rewards as I build my skills to try to answer each week's questions.

If you haven't taken it, you should!
