Etta's comb was a popular style for the early 20th Century. Made of faux turtle, it was placed in the back of the head to hold up the hair.

DeleteLovely comb. I have my maternal grandmother's sewing machine. I keep it in good working order & one of our daughters will move it to her house soon.

DeleteMy maternal grandmother's mother died when my grandmother was only 12. I wonder if my grandmother ever had anything that belonged to her. If she did, I never remember seeing or hearing about it. I do have some of my grandmother's things, though, like her vanity set; a brush, two mirrors and a now toothless comb.
