Cheri and the panel Melissa Barker, Laura Hedgecock, Shelley Murphy, and Mary Kircher Roddy welcome back Bernice Bennett, who has been away from GenFriends working on her new book - "Black Homesteaders of the South". This amazing book shares the inspirational stories of 49 black homesteaders from 5 states. We are so happy for Bernice and congratulate her on all her hard work. We also want to give kudos to Shelley for writing the forward to the book.
Watch as Bernice shares how this project began and the labor of love putting it all together!
Do you have homesteaders in your family tree?
Bernice invites anyone who has discovered their black ancestors were homesteaders to reach out and share their stories with her!
