You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.
Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.
Share by scrolling down and adding your story to the comments section or you may also put a link to a blog post telling about what had you dancing this week.
My Happy Dance Moment for this week:
Creating trees to help with DNA matches took up most of my time this week. Luckily, there seems to be a common surname jumping out at me. After all that work, it has paid off and I am beginning to formulate a theory of who's the daddy.
A happy dance for sure!

After a 3rd-cousin level Ancestry DNA match posted a public tree this week, I was able to connect that DNA match as a half 2nd cousin, and then use that same information to connect two other DNA matches in the same line on 23 and Me (1st cousin and 1st cousin once removed of the Ancestry match). And that branch was one that we were not certain even connected, since it necessitated that my great grandfather had a wife and child prior to marrying my great grandmother, and none of the later records indicated such a thing. But the DNA clearly matches!
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing what we find out when we connect through DNA! Thanks so much for sharing! Dancing with you!
