You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.
Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.

It's been a wonderful week of learning and working hard to make sure the NGS Family History Conference was a success!
The week began on Monday with the first-ever Delegate Council Workshop.
We invited Delegates from societies and organizations from across the county to gather together and learn how this new program from the New NGS will help them help each other work together to solve problems and support each other. The phrase we heard the most from the day was "we are not alone!". For those of us on the Steering Committee for designing the workshop, it was a huge happy dance moment.
Then Tuesday, was the SLAM! event. Societies, Libraries, and Museums shared their innovative programs and projects to help genealogists. So fun to see what they had to offer. I am so glad I didn't have to help pick the winner!
Wednesday and Thursday we were able to hear presentations from a fabulous group of genealogists with a wide range of topics. I was happy that someone even watched my talk because I was up against Elizabeth Shown Mills! She's fabulous! My Q&A period was fun and went well. Another happy dance moment!
Friday was the biggest day for me. As the NGS VP of Society and Organization Management, it was my honor to host the Focus On Societies Event.
My welcome and announcements were followed by an opening presentation by Jill Morelli who shared with us an interesting set of graphics created from a poll she sent out to societies about the effects of the pandemic on their organizations. I was able to moderate for her and ask her some great questions from the audience.
Then it was time to host the Society Showcase where societies from around the US joined me to talk about what their groups were up to over the past year and share their successes and thing that would be beneficial for others. We heard many wonderful ideas of things we can take back to our own groups.
After was my session for FOC and the Q&A. It seemed to go well and there was good feedback and questions from attendees.
A quick change in Zoom links, and I was leading the last discussion of the day dealing with after the merger of NGS and FGS. We talked about how the New NGS is planning on moving forward with the programs FGS already had in place, the development of additional support, and plans for the future.
And with that, it was a wrap of an incredible week!
Am I exhausted? Yes! Am I doing the happy dance anyway?
Absolutely!
Did you attend? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
What's your Happy Dance Moment?
Please share and let's celebrate together!
