Celebration Sunday~Genealogy Happy Dance!

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.

Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.

Share by scrolling down and adding your story to the comments section or you may also put a link to a blog post telling about what had you dancing this week.

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:
Many genealogy gatherings have had to be canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19.
For many of us, it means our scheduled lectures are going to happen and the learning and networking with friends and colleagues have been curtailed.
This week, some good news! The Institute for Genealogy and Historical Research announced that instead of canceling its week-long program in Athens, Georgia, they are holding it virtually! That means not only those who had registered to go but others now have an opportunity to attend. The word spread quickly and registration from those who couldn't make the trip in person sold-out classes!
I took the opportunity and registered for Writing and Publishing for Genealogists taught by Tom Jones. A class I have been dying to take!
There are several classes to choose from. Use this link to see the courses and register.

But wait! There's more! An announcement from the National Genealogical Society came soon after letting us know of their decision to change their live conference in Salt Lake City which was to be held in May, to a virtual live and on-demand platform beginning on May 20, 2020. More information is to come but to find out how you can take advantage of this virtual learning experience click here.

My happy dance? Knowing that despite the challenges of holding conferences and institutes, there are ways to bring the learning right into our homes.  So grateful for those who made these decisions to move forward in spite of these unique times in which we are living!

What had you doing the Happy Dance this week?
