You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.
Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment. This can be done by scrolling down and adding your story to the comments section. You may also put a link to a blog post.
My Happy Dance This Week: A cousin on my paternal line found me through my FamilySearch tree! We have a lot of information to share with each other!
Are we kin? Need help with your research? Please contact me.
Together we can find our people.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Wonderful. Enjoy the exchange of information.
ReplyDeleteColleen, it's been so much fun to read everyone's posts about their discoveries.
DeleteMy happy dance was due to the discovery I made in an obituary for my great-grandfather. I always had him born in Italy but this obit said he was a member of Italian and Tyrolean societies. He would not have joined a Tyrolean society unless he was born there. When he arrived in the US in 1888, the Tyrol was still part of the Austrian-Hungary Empire. It became Trentino province in Italy in 1918 under the Treaty of Versailles ending WWI. This is such an exciting clue.
ReplyDeleteWe never know where those little clues are going to come from! Great job picking up on it! Doing that dance with you!! Thanks so much for sharing, Eileen!

DeleteI was able to find an immigration record for a project I am doing for someone. The man's name was Americanized, but I found his Declaration of Intention that included the name he had used when he immigrated (He was Russian.) With that bit of info I was able to find him on the ship's manifest. Very exciting to find!
ReplyDeleteWhat a find! Those Declarations of Intention papers are fantastic! So glad that you found it and it lead to the ship manifest. Love this! Thanks so much for sharing. Doing that dance with you!
