The panel, Melissa Barker, Dan Earl, Laura Hedgecock, Mary Kircher Roddy and I get together to talk about what happened on Relative RaceSeason 8 Day 2! Family connections revealed biological traits in features and interests, photos and family tree charts hint at more to come. And we are getting to know the teams as we watch how they handle the car ride, how they handle the challenges and their preparation for finding out who is behind the door.

 My paternal great great grandmother, Sarah Rebecca (Smith) Flemming Hudson (1835-1916) died 106 years ago in New Zion, Clarendon, South Carolina. Sarah died of influenza and was buried in the Midway Presbyterian Church Cemetery also in New Zion, Clarendon, South Carolina.

Celebration Sunday-Genealogy Happy Dance!

 

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.

My Happy Dance Moment for this week: 

RootsTech 2022 is in the books! From the mainstage, live presentations, and recorded video there was so much to choose from to help anyone learn and build genealogy skills. 

The Keynote Speakers inspired and challenged us to connect with family and understand and share family stories.

We were encouraged to #ChooseConnection.

The Innovators Portal was filled with so many new and interesting products that will help us to be better researchers and stay organized.

The Expo Hall was an opportunity to visit with vendors, learn more about their products and enter contests!

My playlist is full of classes I want to watch and learn from over the next year.

Connecting with friends was a bit different this year as we caught up on social media and on Zoom to discuss what we had been up to that day.

My biggest thrill of the conference was when one of my two presentations was chosen to be one of the featured videos of the day. That was humbling and yes.....quite a happy dance moment!
