Celebration Sunday-Genealogy Happy Dance: Conferences, Events and Friends!

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone that you found the document, contacted a cousin with the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.

Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This weekly series enables everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.
Share by scrolling
down and add your story to the comments section, or you may also link to a blog post about what had you dancing this week.

My Happy Dance Moment for the week:
Conferences, events, and friends!

It's been a great two weeks. I was able to attend and speak at the South Carolina Genealogical Society Workshop,  and then go to an event where I listened to a friend discuss a project that is important to everyone.

In-person events are a fantastic opportunity to network, make new friends, and connect with old ones.  Learning from those who were speaking and being able to get some research done in the South Carolina Department of Archives and History was a bonus, too!

Share your Happy Dance Moment for the week, and let's celebrate together!

GenFriends Genealogy Chat Show: Can An Old Genealogist Lean New Tricks?

The panel, Melissa Barker, Jenny Hawran, Laura Hedgecock, Mary Kircher Roddy, and I get together to discuss a topic we've been hearing from fellow genealogists.

With all the new tools and technology available, and more on the horizon, are those of us who have been researching for decades being left behind if we don't stay current with these new developments?

Or is there still a place for tried-and-true genealogy methods?

Watch as we share our thoughts and then comment, and let us know yours!
