Celebration Sunday~Genealogy Happy Dance!

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.
Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.

IGHR 2020 Course Four

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:

Understanding methods for technical writing is a skill I need more work on, I decided the virtual option of taking Tom Jones's class at IGHR was an opportunity I could not miss! I have to say, I was a bit intimidated and wondered if I could keep up and learn the things I needed. to.
My happy dance for this week is making it through the class with light bulbs going off and an understanding of many concepts I had not before.
The best learning exercise was submitting a 500-word writing sample for Tom to edit. We went through several sessions on self-editing and rules for technical writing so we could edit before submitting it.

Nervous? You bet!!! Learn something? Absolutely.
As I looked at the many words taken out of my writing and the ways the sentences were rearranged caused a light bulb to go off in my head. I could "see" what we had been talking about in previous sessions. It all made so much sense!
Now, I still have a long way to go, but it was a start!

Learning and growing-my genealogy happy dance for this week!
