Celebration Sunday-Genealogy Happy Dance!

You know the dance. You know you've done it. The one every researcher does after finding something new. The one where you want to jump up and down and shout to everyone around that you found the document, contacted a cousin who has the family Bible, made a DNA connection, or found a whole new branch to your tree. The one that is met with glazed stares and eye rolls.

Celebration Sunday is a place to share your discoveries.
This is a weekly series to enable everyone to tell about their Genealogy Happy Dance moment.
Share by scrolling down and adding your story to the comments section or you may also put a link to a blog post telling about what had you dancing this week.

My Happy Dance Moment for this week:

Newspapers can fill in some of the details of the lives of our ancestors.
This article from 1927 has some details about a car wreck my great grandmother was involved in. My grandmother was in the car at the time along with her sisters. I can remember her telling me about it when I asked her to tell me some of her membories.
Discovering the article helped me to understand more about what happened.  A definite happy dance moment!

What is your Happy Dance Moment?
Please share and let's celebrate together!

  1. Wow that is a great find! Love finding newspaper clippings that back up stories we've been told by family. I found two of those in the past. But this week's happy dance came yesterday as we were working in my grandma's house. Long story about the house, but won't get into it.

As I was going through all the closets, glancing around for anything that could contain anything important, I found a metal box with a lock. Thank God it was unlocked. And inside was a treasure trove. Birth certificates, death certificates, marriage certificates, deeds to old properties, driver's licenses and even my grandpa's old draft card and discharge papers. My grandma died in 2015 and my uncle has had the house ever since. I am so glad I found this box as he sold the house and they close in a week!
